Phrases like: „Polaris / Polaris Australis (in Octans) needs only to be close or rough alignment“ will not suffice. Well? Yes and No. Yes, for wide field images like the Milky Way, the Polar Alignment can be „in the neighbourhood“, but the longer focal lengths - No.  The longer your focal lengths will become the more precise and accurate your polar alignment needs to be. Accurate polar alignment of 2 ArcMin or better will give you great results.
